| In 2000, Laura Dalrymple, Adjunct Professor of Art at Allen County Community College in Burlingame, Kansas, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After her chemotherapy treatments her hair fell out, necessitating a covering for her head. |
Turning adversity into a pedagogical experience for her students, she conceived "Hats for a Woman in Need of a Hat." This project was realized as a collaboration between Laura, her partner, James Harris, and her students who created these hats in class.
